What is a Rebuild? Understanding your Rebuild Options.

What is a Rebuild? Understanding your Rebuild Options.

What is a Rebuild?

When your machine starts showing signs of age or performance loss, it doesn’t always mean it’s time for a replacement. Rebuilds offer a cost-effective way to give your equipment a second life—restoring it to like-new condition and maximizing your investment. At Fabick Cat, we’re here to help you understand what a rebuild is, the different rebuild options available, and why it’s a smart move for your operation.

What is a Cat® Rebuild?

A Cat rebuild is a comprehensive service process that returns your machine, component, or power system to like-new performance. Cat machines are built to be rebuilt, which means that after thousands of hours of hard work, their key structures can be reused—with the right expertise and genuine Cat parts—to create a machine with new life, updated technology, and restored performance at a fraction of the cost of buying new.

Types of Cat Rebuilds Offered

At Fabick Cat, we offer several rebuild options tailored to your needs:

  1. Cat® Certified Machine Rebuild (CMR)
This is the most extensive rebuild program available. It includes a complete disassembly and reassembly of your machine, replacing more than 7,000 parts, restoring critical systems, and updating the machine to the latest engineering standards. Every certified rebuild goes through rigorous inspections and testing, so you know it performs like new.
  2. Cat® Certified Powertrain Rebuild (CPR)
Focused on the heart of your machine, a CPR includes rebuilding major powertrain components like the engine, transmission, and differential. It’s ideal when your powertrain is worn, but your machine’s frame and hydraulic systems are still in good condition.
  3. Cat® Certified Hydraulic Rebuild
When hydraulic system performance declines, this rebuild focuses on restoring pumps, valves, cylinders, and hoses. It improves responsiveness and efficiency—key for precision and productivity.
  4. Cat® Certified Machine Component Rebuilds
If a single component is worn out, you can rebuild just that part instead of replacing it. Engines, transmissions, axles, and other major parts can be rebuilt to like-new condition at a lower cost than buying new.
  5. Custom Rebuilds
We understand that every machine and budget is different. Fabick Cat can tailor a rebuild package specific to your needs, whether it’s performance-driven, budget-focused, or designed to meet a production deadline.

All rebuilds come with warranty options—giving you confidence in the work performed and protection for the road ahead. Coverage levels vary depending on the type of rebuild selected.

Why Choose a Rebuild?

Rebuilding isn’t just about fixing what’s broken—it’s about renewing value. In addition to cost savings, here are a few reasons why rebuilding is a smart investment:

  • Extended Life – You get thousands of additional operating hours out of a machine you already know and trust.
  • Like-New Performance – Rebuilds restore power, fuel efficiency, and responsiveness. You’ll notice the difference.
  • Technology Upgrades – Certified rebuilds often include the latest Cat updates and connectivity features like Product Link™.
  • Sustainability – Reusing the machine’s core components reduces waste and minimizes environmental impact.
  • Warranty Support – Every rebuild includes available warranty options, so you can move forward with peace of mind. The level of coverage depends on the type of rebuild you choose.
