Communication Major Lands Internship at CAT |
Scott Crean is a Belleville, Ill. native who attended Althoff Catholic High School, and will graduate from Southeast
Missouri State in December 2008. He is majoring in corporate communication and public relations
with a minor in integrated marketing communications.
"Southeast has given me an opportunity to get involved and take full advantage
of leadership positions throughout campus." Crean says "The contacts I
have made in my time here at Southeast will help propel me into life after
college. I have made friendships which will last a lifetime and I have made
contacts with professors which will help me professionally as well."
Crean pursues many activities in his spare time, including Lambda Chi Alpha, COMMrades Communication Organization, Student Government, Student Ambassadors, Presidential Ambassadors and Big Brothers Big Sisters. He is currently working for Fabick CAT, the local Caterpillar dealer, in their Fenton and Cape Girardeau branches.
In the summer of 2008, Scott will be serving a marketing and product support internship with Caterpillar, Inc., in Peoria, Illinois.
"I have enjoyed every moment here at Southeast. From hanging out with friends late at night in the dorm, to winning Greek Week with my fraternity, to having a blast every year at homecoming, I will leave Southeast with many memories which will last a lifetime."
One of Crean’s passions is in the world of sports, where one of his aspirations is to attend a game at all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums, and see the St. Louis Rams play in as many visiting National Football League stadiums as possible. He also enjoys watching Southeast baseball games on Fridays and Saturdays and collecting sports memorabilia.
Crean says, "The most important thing I can say to future students is to get
involved while in college. Many times organizations don’t come calling or
searching you out. It is the responsibility of the student to take the
initiative to get involved. The goal is to find two to three organizations in
college that you are passionate about and experience them to the best of your
ability!" |
